2010-2011 Registration
We have officially completed registration for the 2010-2011 school year. Currently we only have openings in our 1 Year old Room and our 2 Year old Room. If you are interested in spots for either age group, please contact the Director at 268-5028. We do keep a waiting list for all age groups as well. If you would like to be put on a waiting list, please call the center.
Our program runs from September through May of the school year. Our hours are from 9am - 2pm. We basically follow the Greenville County School calendar with some minor exceptions. Aldersgate Child Development Center offers the following age levels: 1 Year, 2 Year, K3, K4, & K5. Our 1 Year students must be 1 prior to September 1st of the current school year. Our 1 & 2 Year students must register for a minimum of 2 days. We offer a 2 & 3 Day K3 class and a 3 & 5 Day K4 class. Our K5 Class has a South Carolina Certified Teacher and the environment is kept small with a maximum of 15 students. All of our classrooms have two full-time teachers at all times, so we are able to keep our student:teacher ratios low.
If you are interested in our program, please call the Center at 268-5028 or email jseabrook@aumcsc.org. Our waiting list is open to all with no charge until your child has a spot in our program. We would love to have you visit and tour our Center. Please phone for an appointment.
February 2010
From the Director:
Wow! January came and went quickly! The school year is continuing to fly by. In between the cold and rainy weather, we have had a few small glimpses of warmer weather that has allowed the children to check out the improved playground. They are loving it! It will be especially nice in the Spring and Fall, when the weather is so much warmer with the sun beating down. Well, we had a very successful registration period for the 2010-2011 school year. All of our classes are completely filled with the exception of the 1 Year Room and I am sure that it will fill by the end of the school year. I want to thank all of our parents for the wonderful recommendations that you provided for our center. Even though we advertise, the majority of our families come to us through word of mouth. Thank you! Thank you!
I am sure that this month will go by just as quickly as January. We do have one day off this month, Monday, February 15th, in honor of President's Day. The children will celebrate Valentine's Day on Thursday & Friday, February 11th & 12th. Please be on the lookout for more information on this celebration from your child's teacher.
Toward the end of this month, you will receive information regarding our annual HOP for Leukemia and Lymphoma. Over the last two years our center collected $7,000 to donate to this wonderful charity that helps children and adults. This event was started many years ago at Aldersgate CDC in memory of a previous Aldersgate student, Kayla Bass, who passed away from Leukemia. Over the years, we have added people from the church congregation that have been affected by either Leukemia or Lymphoma as well. Each year, our little ones hop on one or both feet for one minute. Individuals may donate any amount money per hop or a flat donation is acceptable too. The class with the most money raised will receive a pizza party. Please be on the lookout for more information at the end of February.
On a safety note, I would like to remind parents that they are not allowed to knock or enter on the side glass doors. These would be the doors outside of the K4 classes, K3 class, & 2 Year old Room. Not only does it cause distractions for the children, it also can become a safety hazard as well. We appreciate all the parents abiding by this rule. Please enter through our doors or the church office. Thank you!
CDC Staff Meetings
Each month the CDC is required to have a staff meeting. Due to this requirement our staff will be meeting the 3rd Wednesday of each month. The meeting will take place from 8:10 am - 9:00 am. Therefore, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month we will not open doors until 9:00 am. Please understand that this is a necessary event that needs to take place in order to have successful program. Reminders will be sent out the week of the staff meeting each month and it will be posted in the weekly newsletter. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your understanding.
Health & Awareness
We appreciate all of our parents for taking precautionary measures when it comes to sick childen. This is the best way to keep germs at bay. If your child is not feeling well or not acting like himself, please keep him/her home. Sometimes these are just the first signs of a child getting sick and the bigger symptoms show up later. Please continue to follow the DHEC guidelines:
1. Any child that has flu like symptoms must stay home from school for at least 24 hours after he/she no longe has a fever, without the use of fever-reducing medicines.
2. All children need to be free of fever, vomit, & diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
3. Above all, be diligent about handwashing at home. Our center will be as well.
Inclement Weather Plan
Aldersgate CDC will follow Greenville County School District's plan for inclement weather.
If Greenville County School's close for the day, Aldersgate will too.
1 Hour Delay - Aldersgate will open doors at 9:45am.
2 Hour Delay - Aldersgate will open doors at 10:30am
Aldersgate closings will be posted on WYFF Channel 4 . We will be listed under Daycares.
